Navigating the Research Landscape: A Guide to Designing Research Projects and Conducting Literature Reviews in Engineering Research Projects

Dr. Bandita Mainali

Dr Bandita Mainali is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering Department at Macquarie University since 2022. She has been teaching across a broad range of subjects related to Civil/Water Resources Engineering. Previously, she has worked in the position of lecturer in Civil Engineering Department at La Trobe University from 2014 to 2021. She completed her PhD degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from University of Technology Sydney in the year 2014. 

Dr Mainali has more than 10 years of industrial and academic experience in civil/environmental engineering fields. Her expertise and practical experiences cover the areas of hydrology and hydraulics/environmental engineering which includes hydraulic modelling using software such as MUSIC, HECRAS, environmental engineering, water and wastewater engineering such as membrane technologies, advanced biological wastewater treatment technologies.

Her research interest is on innovative water and wastewater treatment and reuse technologies. Investigating community perception on alternative water sources and community education on environmental issues are part of her research. Her research focus is on recyled water, WSUD, solid waste management and hybrid water supply systems in Australian cities.

Alkayet Hossain
Senior Country Manager, South Asia and Middle East Future Students, Macquarie University, Australia

Alkayet Hossain is an experienced higher education and business development professional with over 7 years of business develpoment, marketing, international student recruitment and stakeholder management.

Alkayet is currently working as the Senior Country Manager of South Asia and the Middle East of the International, Future Students team of Macquarie University, Australia. He is responsible for promoting the univeristy’s educational excellence and assisting international institutions to be part of it. Besides, he is the key liaison staff of the student recruitment, stakeholder relationship and engagement, performance management and risk management in South Asia and the Middle Eastern Region.

Prior to joining Macquarie University in 2019, Alkayet worked in Primary Health Care Limited, Active Mortgage and Finance, RGIS in Australia, and he was an academic at Daffodil International University in Bangladesh.

Alkayet completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bangladesh and Masters degree in Commerce and Professional Accounting from Australia.

Alkayet is interested in developing new and emerging markets/segments for international education, the internationalization of South Asian and Middle Eastern institutions, and EdTech.
