
Project Engagement Guidelines
Research and Innovation Unit (RIU) is an in-house research platform for acem. It works on both industry projects and also empower students to work on their projects. This sections explains a step-by-step process to utilize the resources available at RIU.
Students Sensitization
RIU will conduct student sensitization for the student’s from the seventh semester of all the faculties. RIU is open for all the projects ideas whether it being the ideas brought by students or assigned by RIU. During the beginning of the semester, our representatives will conduct two rounds of discussions in each faculty, where the possible project ideas will be discussed with students.
Project Appointment
After the submission of a proposal of the project, selected students will be appointed to their respective projects and supervisor. RIU will email the respective faculties Head of Department and Deputy Head of Department for the confirmation of project idea. Selected students will join the training sessions that will give them an extra boost of soft and hard skills and help them prepare for the research and real-life projects.
Project Supervisor Appointment
Based on the faculty’s expertise and interest, the Head of Department of respective faculty will appoint the project supervisor.
Regular Meeting
After the appointment of the supervisor from the department, there will be a project coordination meeting every two weeks for the first two months of the commencement of the project and one meeting every month for the rest of the project duration. The meeting must be attended by the students, supervisor, external supervisor (if any) and RIU representatives, where the project meeting log will be kept by the RIU representative.
General guidelines for the students
- Students are reminded that they need to give atleast of 10 hrs a week for the project.
- The student takes responsibility for maintaining regular meetings with the supervisor and RIU representative.
- The student should take responsibility for the design, methodology and presentation of the project with the consultation of a RIU representative.

What if you missed to be a part of RIU at the beginning of the semester?
RIU not only helps students for their projects but also provide them hard and soft skill training. Along with that, it is an open platform for all through out the year. Despite not being selected as a RIU core project team, other students can still use the platform.
